A citizens’ campaign for water conservation, harvesting and groundwater recharge

To create awareness in individuals and communities about the crisis in the availability of clean water, fast depleting groundwater, reasons for such crises and possible technology- based solutions, PARIVAR undertook this project in year 2021-22 with support of DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY (DST). This project has been successful in reaching out to more than a lakh of citizens in DELHI NCR region.

  • Rainwater Harvesting Demonstration units established at 04 locations around Vijay Nagar Police Station, Ghaziabad.
  • Jal Suraksha H2S Vials for water quality testing have been used at various locations for detection of important harmful pathogenic bacteria which are responsible for common water-borne diseases such as diarrhea, dysentery, gastroenteritis etc.
  • Installation of water flow alarms at the demonstration units to save water from overflowing and encouraging residents to employ it.
  • By the help of Ground Water Board, Noida, (Govt. of U.P), we have collected ground water level data (Pre & Post Monsoon) for the last 10 years. After analysing it, two blocks of Ghaziabad namely Razapur and Loni have been identified where the ground water level is rapidly decreasing every year. Hence public awareness meetings have been conducted in these regions.
